KCB Bank Uganda has marked the graduation of 120 high-potential and first-line leaders who completed the Emerging Leaders Development Program. The ceremony, which took place on September 28, 2026, brought together the graduates who had finished the program's core modules in June 2026. The program is part of the bank's group-wide leadership initiative aimed at strengthening leadership capability and driving sustainable business performance.
The Emerging Leaders Development Program is the third tier of the bank's leadership development initiative, which began with the Senior Leadership Development Program for the Country Management Team in September 2025. The program then moved to the NextGen Leadership Development Program for middle management leaders in March 2026. The completion of the Emerging Leaders Development Program means that the bank has now reached every management level with structured leadership development.
The program's curriculum focused on self-leadership, emotional intelligence, conflict management, goal setting, prioritization, and leading high-performing teams. Participants followed a blended learning model that included in-person classroom sessions and three months of self-paced e-learning, as well as practical Action Learning Projects addressing real operational challenges within the bank.
Edgar Byamah, Managing Director of KCB Bank Uganda, challenged the graduates to apply their training to drive immediate operational impact. He commended their dedication throughout the program and urged them to provide clear direction and clarity to their teams, ensuring everyone is aligned with the bank's vision.
Sempa Laura, Learning Development and Talent Manager at KCB Bank Uganda, highlighted the strategic value of the initiative, noting that it aims to develop talent within the business to support overall business performance and people growth. The bank expects graduates to apply what they learned to measurable improvements in customer experience, internal workflow efficiency, and overall business growth.
The program is a direct investment in human capital, with graduates expected to drive sustainable business performance. The bank confirmed that graduates will continue to receive structured support, including mentorship, stretch assignments, and ongoing measurement of the program's impact on their teams and business units.
With the completion of the Emerging Leaders Development Program, KCB Bank Uganda has demonstrated its commitment to building leadership capacity at every level of the organization in support of long-term, sustainable performance.
