A growing rift between Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State and Alhaji Kabir Ibrahim Masari, a political adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has led to the resignation of several high-ranking government officials. The crisis has raised concerns among residents about the stability of Radda's administration, which had emphasized its focus on fulfilling campaign promises rather than making new ones. However, recent developments suggest that some officials appointed by Radda have begun to leave their positions.

The crisis escalated after Masari visited Katsina to oversee political activities and seek support for President Tinubu. While Radda's administration continues to pursue its own political agenda within the APC, Masari and his supporters are also seeking Tinubu's backing in the state. This has created tension between the two factions, despite both being part of the APC. Allegations that supporters of both sides are fueling the conflict have raised doubts about the possibility of reconciliation before the 2027 general elections.

The detention of Aminu Sanda, a young politician known as Nasta and associated with Governor Radda's faction, on allegations of defacing President Tinubu's posters, further strained relations between the two sides. Reports suggest that Masari had ordered Nasta's arrest. Nasta was later arraigned in court in Abuja on charges of damaging the President's posters and another financial-related offense, before being granted bail. The incident also led to the invitation of Katsina State Governor's security aides, including the ADC and CSO, to the police headquarters for questioning.

The rift has become more apparent at political gatherings organized by each faction, where there is a noticeable lack of interaction or attendance by officials from the opposing side. Against this backdrop, several government officials have begun to resign from their positions. One of the first to resign was Hajiya Hadiza Yar'adua, the former Commissioner for Women's Affairs, who stepped down after her position was downgraded from commissioner to special adviser, with ties to Masari's faction.

Other officials who have resigned include Abubakar Soja Tsanni, a special adviser to the Governor on community development, who cited his support for Masari's political path. Barista Sulaiman Namadi, the former Secretary of the APC in the state during the tenure of former Governor Aminu Bello Masari, also resigned as chairman of the state's land administration agency. Additionally, Alhaji Kabir Bature, Chairman of the state's pilgrims' welfare board, who was seen as close to Governor Radda, resigned as well.

On the women's side, Hajiya Fadila Sani Dalhatu also stepped down as a senior special assistant. While some of these officials have cited allegiance to Masari as the reason for their resignations, others have not provided explicit explanations. The mass resignations have fueled speculation about the depth of the divisions within Radda's administration and the potential impact on the state's governance.

The Katsina State government has yet to officially comment on the resignations or the ongoing political crisis. However, the development has raised concerns about the potential for further instability in the state, particularly as the 2027 general elections approach. The situation remains a subject of interest for political observers and residents of Katsina State.
