The Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking has apprehended a 27-year-old man, Ishaq Lawan Ibrahim, popularly known as Malam Keya, for allegedly sponsoring violent gang clashes in Dala Local Government Area. According to the task force, Ibrahim was arrested in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, following an intelligence-led operation. He has been returned to Kano for investigation and possible prosecution.

The task force accused Ibrahim of financing and coordinating gang violence that reportedly claimed lives and left residents living in fear. The suspect, a resident of Yelwa in Dala, allegedly fled Kano after security operations intensified in communities affected by gang clashes. The affected areas include Jakara, Madigawa, Yalwa, Sanka, Kul Kul, Dogon Nama, Kuka Bulukiya, Dala, Shatsari and Dandalin Turawa.

Operatives tracked Ibrahim to Port Harcourt, where he was arrested in an operation led by the Head of Operations, CSP Bashir Gwadabe. The task force chairman, Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, confirmed the arrest and warned individuals allegedly financing violence that they would be pursued regardless of their location.

Rimin Gado emphasized that the arrest was only the beginning and that the task force would not rest until peace was fully restored in the state. He assured residents that the task force would follow the law in prosecuting the suspect and appealed for support from residents, community and religious leaders, parents and youths in reporting suspicious activities and preventing young people from being recruited into criminal gangs.

The task force said Ibrahim remained in custody and would face prosecution after investigations were concluded. The process would be conducted in accordance with the law. The task force also acknowledged the support of the Kano and Rivers State Police Commands and other law enforcement agencies in the operation.

The arrest has been hailed as a significant breakthrough in the fight against gang violence in Kano State. The task force has urged residents to continue providing information to security agencies to help prevent future incidents. The safety of Kano is a shared responsibility, and the task force has called on all stakeholders to work together to reclaim the streets and secure the future of the state.

The Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking will continue to work with other security agencies to identify and apprehend individuals involved in violent gang clashes. The task force remains committed to restoring peace and order in the state and will not relent in its efforts to achieve this goal.
