The Kaduna State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed three commissioner-nominees submitted by Governor Uba Sani. The confirmation took place during a plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Hon. Yusuf Dahiru Liman. The nominees confirmed are Ben Kure, Amina Akilu-Dalhat, and Abdullahi Garba Abbas. They are expected to occupy the positions of commissioner for Sports Development, commissioner for Special Duties I, and commissioner for Special Duties II, respectively.

Ben Kure, the immediate past managing director of Kaduna State Media Corporation, expressed his commitment to using sports to promote youth development, health, and unity in the state. He emphasized that sports have the capacity to unite people across social divides due to its emphasis on inclusion and sportsmanship. Kure plans to collaborate with ministry officials to understand its operations and align his activities with the governor's vision for sports development.

The ongoing rehabilitation of sporting facilities, including the Ahmadu Bello Stadium and Ranchers Bees Stadium, is expected to provide more opportunities for young people to participate in sports. Kure noted that with youths constituting a significant proportion of the state's population, investment in sports would help promote physical fitness while creating opportunities for talented young people. This move is anticipated to have a positive impact on the state's development.

Amina Akilu-Dalhat, the commissioner-nominee for Special Duties I, stated that her appointment would enable her to contribute to the development of Kaduna State. She plans to work with other ministries to implement special projects designed to make a direct impact on the lives of residents. Akilu-Dalhat emphasized that particular attention would be given to women and youths in implementing the government's agenda.

The Kaduna State House of Assembly also introduced a bill seeking to regulate private health facilities and health-related institutions in the state. The bill aims to establish a regulatory agency for the sector, which would be responsible for issuing licenses, approving the establishment of private health facilities, and ensuring that operators comply with prescribed standards.

The chairman, House Committee on Education and member representing Zaria City Constituency, Hon. Mahmud Lawal Ismaila, explained that the bill was necessary to address the proliferation of unlicensed and unqualified private health facilities in the state. The proposed agency would regulate the establishment, licensing, accreditation, and operations of private health facilities, thereby ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services to residents.

The confirmation of the commissioner-nominees and the introduction of the bill to regulate private health facilities demonstrate the Kaduna State House of Assembly's commitment to promoting the state's development. The assembly's efforts are expected to have a positive impact on the lives of residents, particularly in the areas of sports development, special duties, and healthcare.
