The Kassim Alli-Balogun (KAB) Foundation, in collaboration with the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), Lagos State Branch, has provided free medical services to over 500 staff and legislative aides of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission. This initiative was part of the activities marking PASAN Week. The event took place at the Lateef Jakande Auditorium of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The medical outreach offered a wide range of services, including free Hepatitis B screening, blood sugar and blood pressure checks, eye examinations, cervical, kidney and prostate screenings, general medical consultations, vital signs assessment, physiotherapy, and dental care. Beneficiaries also received malaria treatment and professional teeth scaling. Additionally, 100 pairs of prescription glasses were distributed to staff who required them.
A team of 30 doctors and other healthcare professionals delivered the services, led by Dr. Eniye Aprezi, Executive Director and Founder of Atti Theresa Foundation. Dr. Aprezi described the initiative as a partnership between the KAB Foundation and PASAN to improve the health and wellbeing of parliamentary workers.
The Clerk of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mrs Adenike Oshinowo, commended the KAB Foundation and PASAN for prioritizing the welfare of Assembly workers. Represented by the Deputy Clerk, Mr Ebenezer Olaosebikan, Oshinowo conveyed the goodwill of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, the principal officers, members, and management of the Assembly to the organizers and PASAN members.
The chairman of PASAN, Lagos State Branch, Mr Babatunde Ogunlana, thanked the KAB Foundation for sponsoring the outreach and supporting the welfare of parliamentary workers. Ogunlana congratulated staff on the successful conclusion of PASAN Week and stated that PASAN would continue to pursue programs to improve the welfare and professional wellbeing of workers in the Assembly and its Service Commission.
The KAB Foundation stated that the outreach was part of its broader interventions in healthcare, education, youth development, and women empowerment. This initiative underscores the Foundation's commitment to enhancing the lives of various groups within the society.
