The New Patriotic Party (NPP) of Ghana has elected a new National Chairman, John Boadu, and re-elected Justin Frimpong Kodua as General Secretary at its national delegates conference held in Kumasi, Ashanti Region. The conference, which took place from Saturday, October 3, to Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, drew thousands of delegates to choose the party's leaders. John Boadu won the chairmanship with nearly 50 percent of the total votes cast.

John Boadu's election marks a significant return to the party's leadership structure. He contested against a field of heavyweights and emerged victorious. His election as National Chairman is seen as a major development in the party's quest to maintain its leadership. The party's national delegates conference is a critical event in the NPP's calendar, as it determines the party's leadership and direction.

Justin Frimpong Kodua, the incumbent General Secretary, retained his position, garnering 4,486 votes. He defeated other contenders, including Sylvester Tetteh, Eugene Boakye Antwi, and Dr. Charles Dwamena. Kodua's victory is attributed to his steady administrative capability and deep grassroots connection. His re-election is seen as a vote of confidence in his leadership.

The Kumasi congress also saw the election of other key portfolio holders. Mohammed Ali Suraj was elected as National Nasara Organiser with 372 votes. Kojo Fosu Boadu, Henry Nana Boakye, and Nana Akomea were elected as Vice Chairpersons, securing 3,116, 3,061, and 2,987 votes, respectively. The newly elected leadership will steer the party into the future, with John Boadu and Justin Frimpong Kodua at the helm.
