Regional low-cost carrier Jambojet has officially resumed daily flights between Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi and Entebbe International Airport in Uganda. The first flight departed Nairobi on Friday, October 2, 2026. The revived route offers daily flights with fares starting from Ksh 22,950 or USD 170 one-way, providing an affordable 65-minute connection for business people, traders, and tourists.

Jambojet initially launched the Nairobi-Entebbe route in 2018 and operated it for nearly two years. The airline's return to the route comes with a stronger network, expanded fleet, and greater operational capacity. This development positions Jambojet to serve the growing movement of people and businesses between Kenya and Uganda. The airline plans to increase frequencies as demand develops.

Speaking at the flag-off event, Jambojet CEO and Managing Director, Mr. Karanja Ndegwa, stated that the airline's return to Entebbe reflects the growing need for accessible and reliable regional connectivity. He emphasized that Jambojet aims to make regional travel more accessible and reliable by offering low-cost fares and direct, on-time connectivity.

The Nairobi-Entebbe route will also connect travelers from Uganda into Jambojet's wider Kenyan network, including destinations such as Mombasa, Diani, Malindi, and Lamu. Kenyan travelers will have direct access to Uganda for business, tourism, and visiting family and friends. Kenya Tourism Board CEO, June Chepkemei, welcomed the return of the service, highlighting its importance in supporting tourism growth and making Kenya's destinations more accessible to regional travelers.

June Chepkemei noted that the Entebbe-Nairobi service will enable visitors to combine experiences across both countries. Travelers can enjoy Uganda's wildlife, culture, and natural beauty, then connect conveniently to Kenya's savannahs, mountains, cities, and coast. Conversely, visitors arriving in Kenya will have a more accessible gateway to Uganda and the wider Great Lakes region.

Jambojet Board Director, Mrs. Patricia Ithau, stated that the return to Uganda reflects the airline's broader evolution and its ambition to play a greater role in connecting East Africa. The airline aims to connect more people, markets, and opportunities across the region. Ithau emphasized that regional growth is not simply about adding routes but building a network that responds to genuine demand and creates sustainable value for the markets served.

The Principal Secretary for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Ms. Teresia Mbaika, commended Jambojet for expanding air connectivity, which supports Kenya's ambition to strengthen its position as a regional aviation hub. The Entebbe launch comes during a strong year for Jambojet, which grew its active fleet to 11 aircraft in April 2026 and welcomed its 10 millionth passenger in June 2026.
