The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has restored its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) following a temporary disruption. In a statement, JAMB said CAPS is now fully operational, urging institutions to accelerate the 2026/2027 admission process. The board directed tertiary institutions to recover lost time and work towards meeting the agreed admission deadlines. This move aims to ensure a smooth admission process for the new academic session.
JAMB retained October 31, 2026, as the deadline for public universities, while private universities have until November 30, 2026, to complete their admission processes. Other tertiary institutions have been given until December 31, 2026, to conclude admissions. The board advised candidates to promptly accept admission offers made to them through the system as institutions resume admission processing. This will enable institutions to process candidates efficiently and meet the set deadlines.
The restoration of CAPS comes as institutions intensify the processing of candidates for the new academic session. JAMB urged candidates who had been awaiting their Senior School Certificate Examination results to take prompt action following the release of the 2026 National Examinations Council (NECO) results. Candidates are advised to upload and/or verify their results to ensure their credentials are available for consideration by institutions.
The availability of the results will enable institutions to continue processing candidates whose admissions had been delayed pending the release of their examination credentials. JAMB expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption and appreciated candidates, institutions, and other stakeholders for their patience and understanding. The board acknowledged the efforts of stakeholders in ensuring a smooth admission process.
