JAC Motors South Africa has introduced two new additions to its T-Series line-up: the T9 2.0L CTi Black Edition 4x4 and the T9 Hunter Black Edition 4x4. These models are based on the T9 Super Lux 4x4 and feature distinctive black exterior trim, including a radiator grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, exterior mirrors, and door handles. The T9 Hunter Black Edition further stands out with Hunter-branded decals on the sides and tailgate.
Both Black Edition models come equipped with a range of standard features, including branded nudge and style bars, a tonneau cover, tow bar, headrests, and heavy-duty floor carpets. The interior of the double-cabs features black leather upholstery. Under the hood, both models are powered by JAC’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. The Super Lux produces 125kW and 444Nm, while the Hunter develops 144kW and 487Nm.
The T9 Black Edition 4x4 models offer a range of driving capabilities, including four drive modes: Sport, Eco, Normal, and Snow. The claimed combined-cycle fuel consumption for both models is 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers. Off-road equipment includes a low-range transfer case and electronic rear differential lock, while the maximum braked towing capacity is rated at 3,500 kilograms.
In addition to the new Black Edition models, JAC Motors has confirmed that its T9 PHEV will launch in South Africa in the fourth quarter of 2026. The plug-in hybrid combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine with electric motors on the front and rear axles, producing a combined 360kW and 674Nm. A 31.2kWh battery provides an electric driving range of up to 100 kilometers.
The T9 PHEV supports onboard charging and can charge from 15% to 80% at a DC fast charger in 30 minutes. This new model is part of JAC Motors’ efforts to expand its offerings in the South African market. The company has a strong presence in the country, with a range of models available.
The T9 2.0L CTi Black Edition 4x4 is priced at R629,900, while the T9 Hunter Black Edition 4X4 costs R689,900. Both models come with a comprehensive warranty and service plan, including a five-year/200,000km warranty, seven-year/100,000km service plan, and 24-hour roadside assistance for five years/200,000km.
The new T9 Black Edition 4x4 models are expected to be well-received in the South African market, given their distinctive styling, robust features, and competitive pricing.
