The Darika Islamic group, led by Shiekh Muhammad Nasir of the Mussasa Shiekh Dahiru Bauchi Foundation, has endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda for re-election in 2027. The endorsement was made at an event in the state metropolitan area, where members from the 34 Local Government Areas of the state gathered to give their blessings to the re-election bid of both leaders.
According to Shiekh Nasir, the group decided to endorse Tinubu and Radda due to their remarkable contributions to Islamic education and support for clerics in the state. He encouraged voters to support both men, as well as candidates of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), and to turn out in mass on election day to cast their votes for them.
Governor Radda expressed his appreciation for the support from the clerics, assuring that the ruling APC would continue to work to make life better for Nigerians. He stated that the re-election of both himself and Tinubu would ensure continuity in governance, leading to smoother implementation of government programmes.
The event's Convener and Chairman of the Maituraka Foundation, Abdulaziz Maituraka, expressed confidence that both Tinubu and Radda would secure victory in the coming polls and serve another term in office. He called on members of the APC within and outside the state to remain united and ensure they positively sell both candidates to their friends, neighbours, and communities ahead of the elections.
Maituraka also urged APC members to work towards ensuring that all candidates of the party win various seats being contested for, both at the national and state levels. The event saw the religious group offer special prayers for Nigeria's leaders, as well as for a quick end to insecurity challenges bedeviling parts of the country.
As part of the event, the religious group distributed empowerment packages to 500 women to encourage self-reliance through the establishment or expansion of their own small-scale businesses. This initiative aims to promote economic empowerment and reduce poverty among women in the state.
