IRON SPORTS Academy, a renowned sports institution, has launched its Kigali branch, aiming to identify and nurture young football talents in the city. The academy, founded by RBA sports journalist Uwimana Olivier, held its opening ceremony on October 31, 2026, at the Green Hills Academy in Nyarutarama. The new branch will provide a platform for young players to develop their skills and potentially become professional footballers. Around 20 children, accompanied by their parents, have already enrolled in the academy.

The Kigali branch is an expansion of IRON SPORTS Academy's existing operations in Ruyenzi, Kamonyi, where 40 students have been training for five months under the guidance of experienced coaches. According to Uwimana Olivier, the decision to open a Kigali branch was driven by requests from parents who found it difficult to travel to Ruyenzi. The academy's goal is to provide more opportunities for young players to develop their talents and potentially represent Rwanda at the international level.

Uwimana Olivier, the founder and director of IRON SPORTS Academy, revealed that his passion for football was sparked at a young age. However, his parents initially discouraged him from pursuing a career in sports, emphasizing the importance of education instead. Olivier eventually chose to focus on his studies, which led him to a career in journalism. He now aims to use his experience to help young players achieve their full potential in football.

The IRON SPORTS Academy offers training programs for children aged 3-16, with separate sessions for boys and girls. The academy currently has 60 students enrolled across its two branches. Olivier expressed his ambition to see the academy produce talented players who can compete at the international level and represent Rwanda with pride.

Parents interested in enrolling their children in the IRON SPORTS Academy can contact the administration via phone or email. The academy's contact details are 0785616144 and [email protected]. Olivier emphasized that the academy's ultimate goal is to create a platform for young players to develop their skills and achieve success in football.

The IRON SPORTS Academy's Kigali branch is expected to play a significant role in identifying and nurturing young football talents in the city. With its experienced coaches and well-structured training programs, the academy is confident of producing talented players who can compete at the highest level.

In the next five years, the IRON SPORTS Academy aims to see its students achieve tangible success in football, both locally and internationally. The academy's commitment to developing young talents and providing them with opportunities to succeed is expected to have a positive impact on the sport in Rwanda.
