IMPACT has announced a job opening for a community agent to work on a project aimed at strengthening the resilience of communities affected by artisanal and small-scale gold mining in Burkina Faso. The project, titled "Foundations for Cohesion: Artisanal Mines and Community Resilience in Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire," is funded by the Canadian government's Program for Stabilization and Peace Operations. The community agent will play a crucial role in mobilizing and sensitizing local communities, promoting social cohesion, and supporting the formalization of artisanal mining activities.

The community agent will be based in Burkina Faso's Nando region and will work in close collaboration with local authorities, community leaders, and project team members. The agent will be responsible for identifying and mobilizing local actors, organizing meetings and awareness-raising sessions, and facilitating the participation of women and vulnerable groups in project activities. The agent will also provide support to artisanal mining operators and cooperatives in their efforts to formalize and comply with regulatory requirements.

The project aims to improve the livelihoods of communities affected by artisanal mining by promoting social cohesion, financial inclusion, and women's empowerment. The community agent will contribute to the project's objectives by collecting data, monitoring indicators, and documenting best practices and lessons learned. The agent will also participate in the design and implementation of studies and surveys to assess the project's impact.

To be eligible for the position, candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience working as a community agent or in a similar role, preferably with an NGO or international organization. They must also have a good understanding of the local context, including the dynamics of artisanal mining, and be able to communicate effectively in French and local languages.

The community agent will work under the supervision of the Financial Inclusion and Economic Empowerment Officer and will be required to travel regularly within the region and to Ouagadougou. The position is offered on a one-year contract, renewable based on project duration or other initiatives. The deadline for applications is November 15, 2026, and the expected start date is December 1, 2026.

IMPACT is encouraging female candidates to apply for the position, which is considered a key factor in promoting women's empowerment and gender equality. The organization is committed to transforming the management of natural resources and promoting sustainable development in communities affected by extractive industries.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently in a challenging environment. They will be required to demonstrate a strong commitment to social cohesion, financial inclusion, and women's empowerment, as well as a good understanding of the local context and the project's objectives.
