A stalwart of the African Democratic Congress and former Edo State governorship aspirant, Kenneth Imasuagbon, has paid tribute to the late Dan Orbih, describing him as a courageous, compassionate, and loyal politician. Imasuagbon stated that Orbih's death has left a deep vacuum in Edo State's political landscape. He received the news of Orbih's passing with shock and sadness, recalling that the former Peoples Democratic Party National Chairman was a consummate politician and a kind-hearted man.
Imasuagbon recalled that one of Orbih's greatest acts of kindness was his support after he was involved in an accident and was receiving treatment at a London hospital. Orbih sent money to Imasuagbon while he was on his hospital bed in London. Alongside the late Chief Tony Anenih and Senator Clifford Ordia, Orbih stood by Imasuagbon during that difficult period. Imasuagbon said he would never forget Orbih's gesture and that some people can only reciprocate such kindness today through prayers and honouring his memory.
During the administration of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Imasuagbon and Orbih jointly led the opposition in Edo State. Imasuagbon described Orbih's residence in Benin as a rallying point for party faithful and democracy advocates. Orbih was a man of uncommon courage, and his house became a meeting point for them during the political struggle. He never wavered in defending democracy and standing by those he believed in.
Imasuagbon noted that Orbih had a colourful personality and an uncommon ability to inspire supporters during political campaigns. The late PDP stalwart brought humour and entertainment into politics. Orbih remained a committed party man who loved Edo people passionately and dedicated his life to the advancement of democracy. Under his leadership, they toured the 192 wards campaigning.
Imasuagbon described Orbih as kind-hearted, loyal to his party, and deeply committed to the people of Edo State. Orbih was a fair and just politician, as evident during the 2022 national delegate contest in Esan South-East Local Government Area. Imasuagbon defeated Giwa Agbomerere in the contest, and Orbih resisted pressure to drop Imasuagbon's name from the delegate list despite potential backlash.
