Ilemela Municipal Council in Mwanza region has collected 4.37bn/- out of a targeted 19.25bn/- in internal revenue for the 2026/2027 financial year. The council's Acting Municipal Director, Mr. Goodluck Lukandiza, presented the report during a full council meeting. He stated that by September 30 of this year, the municipality had collected 4.3bn/-, representing 23 percent of the annual target. This collection rate indicates a significant start to the financial year.

The municipality allocated 4bn/- for the implementation of various development projects across its wards between July and September 2026. Of this amount, 3bn/- consisted of carry-over funds from the 2025/2026 financial year, while 1.2bn/- came from the first-quarter allocation of the 2026/2027 financial year. These funds were utilized to support various sectors, ensuring continuity of projects and programs. The allocation demonstrates the council's commitment to implementing development initiatives.

The surplus funds were utilized across various sectors, including Primary Education, which received 873m/-, Administration (837m/-), Industry, Trade, and Investment (900m/-), Health (267m/-), and Secondary Education (156m/-). Other sectors that benefited include Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives, which was allocated 144.7m/-, as well as Infrastructure, which received 51m/-. These allocations aim to support the development of different sectors within the municipality.

Regarding project implementation using internal revenue from the first quarter of the 2026/2027 financial year, 370m/- was allocated to the Health sector, 234m/- to Infrastructure, 221m/- to Community Development, and 177m/- to Secondary Education. These allocations demonstrate the council's focus on improving service delivery and infrastructure within the municipality. The projects are expected to have a positive impact on the community.

Councilor for Buzuruga Ward, Mr. Manusura Sadick, commended the municipality for its strong revenue collection performance. He urged the council to further expand its revenue sources to ensure sustainable development.
