The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has been honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by his alma mater, St. Gregory’s College in Lagos. The award was presented during a grand event hosted by the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association in Lagos on Saturday. This recognition acknowledges Disu’s over thirty years of dedication to the Nigeria Police Force, highlighting his outstanding career in public service and leadership.
Disu completed his secondary education at St. Gregory’s College in 1985 and began his journey with the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent in 1992. Throughout his career, he has taken on various important positions, including Commander of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, Head of the Intelligence Response Team, and Commissioner of Police. These roles have equipped him with extensive experience in frontline policing, criminal investigations, intelligence operations, and senior command roles.
The Lifetime Achievement Award also emphasizes Disu’s focus on professionalism, intelligence-led policing, accountability, staff welfare, community partnerships, and using technology responsibly to enhance policing and public safety. As the 23rd indigenous Inspector-General of Police, appointed in February 2026, Disu has been instrumental in shaping the Nigeria Police Force into a professional organization that prioritizes accountability and community engagement.
