The Inspection General of the State (IGE) in Mozambique is holding its first Coordinating Council from today until Friday. The meeting aims to analyze the institution's legal and organizational instruments and discuss its priorities. The council will review various normative instruments that guide the IGE's functioning, including the Resolution on the creation of special differentiated careers and specific functions of the IGE.

The meeting will also focus on approving the respective professional qualifiers. According to IGE's Legal Director, Dique Mateus, today's sessions will be dedicated to presenting and discussing these normative instruments. The IGE was established this year, resulting from the merger of the General Inspection of Finances and the General Inspection of Public Administration.

Tomorrow, the council will review the IGE's initial activities, discuss the proposed Economic and Social Plan and State Budget (PESOE) for 2027, and examine the proposed Priorities Plan for the IGE's actions from 2027 to 2029. These topics will be supplemented by plenary debates aimed at analyzing proposals and gathering contributions from event participants in Ponta de Ouro.

The program also includes discussions on the auditors' and inspectors' training plan, the Internal Audit Subsystem, and the internal audit administration module. The meeting will conclude with the evaluation of the proposed Technical Council Regulation for Audit and Inspection. This is the IGE's first meeting to assess institutional performance, harmonize procedures, and strengthen public administration audit, inspection, and control mechanisms.

The IGE was created in January this year, resulting from the merger of two institutions. The council's discussions will focus on identifying priorities and evaluating activities. The meeting in Ponta de Ouro aims to bring together various stakeholders to discuss the IGE's role and future plans.

Key issues to be addressed during the meeting include the IGE's structure, its relationship with other government institutions, and its priorities for the coming years. Participants will also discuss the challenges facing the IGE and potential solutions.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to shape the IGE's future actions and strategies. The council's recommendations will likely influence the institution's role in promoting transparency and accountability in Mozambique's public administration.
