The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been slated to deliver the keynote address at the maiden induction ceremony of the Idoma Hall of Fame. The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 12 noon at the Peach Vine Event Centre in Wuye, Abuja. Wike was bestowed with the Idoma honorary title “Okokonjo K’Idoma” by the paramount ruler of the Idoma, the Och’Idoma, in 2023.

Wike’s keynote address will focus on the theme, “People, Politics and Power in Nigeria: The Agitation for Equity, Fairness and Justice.” His strong and vocal position on equity and fairness in the distribution of political power in Nigeria, as well as his advocacy for minority rights, made him particularly suited to address the theme of the ceremony.

According to Chief Paul-Harris Ogbole, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Wike’s choice as keynote speaker was motivated by his vocal posture on equity and fairness in the distribution of political power in Nigeria. Ogbole noted that Wike’s recognition as a Friend of Idoma was intended to acknowledge his relationship with the Idoma people and his contributions to the community.

The founder and Executive Director of the Idoma Hall of Fame, Engr. Agaba Ikwue, stated that the initiative was established to document and preserve the achievements of distinguished Idoma people for future generations. Ikwue described the Hall of Fame as an institution dedicated to preserving Idoma history, celebrating excellence, and inspiring younger generations.

Ikwue further explained that the Idoma Hall of Fame is more than an award platform, but a broader platform for youth mentorship, gender equity, preservation of Idoma heritage, and community engagement. The project aims to become a lasting institution beyond its founders.

The maiden induction ceremony will see the induction of several notable individuals, including former Senate President Senator David Mark, TETFund Executive Secretary Arc. Sonny Echono, and legendary musician Dr. Bongos Ikwue. Other inductees include music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, Dunamis International Gospel Centre founder Dr. Paul Enenche, and legal luminary Chief Godwin Obla.

The Idoma Hall of Fame seeks to ensure that the achievements of distinguished Idoma people are properly documented and preserved for future generations. The initiative aims to celebrate those who have contributed to the growth, development, and identity of the Idoma Nation.
