The Iba of Kishi and paramount ruler of Kishi land, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Moshood Oyekola Aweda Lawal, Arowoduye II, has given his endorsement to Hon. Shina Peller for the Oyo North Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections. This endorsement was made on Friday when Peller, the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) senatorial candidate, led a delegation of party executives and supporters to his palace in Irepo Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Peller was accompanied by his mother, Alhaja Silifat Abeo Abiola Peller, popularly known as Lady Peller, alongside other party executives and loyalists. Notably, Lady Peller has a family connection to Kishi, as she is a daughter of the late Alhaji Soliu Ali, who was widely respected as Kiniun Adini and served as one of the prominent Chief Imams of Kishi Land. The monarch welcomed Peller and offered prayers and royal blessings for his aspiration.
During the visit to the palace, Peller highlighted his background and connections across Oyo North, which he believes place him in a position to understand the interests of the district’s different communities. He mentioned that his father was from Oke-Ogun I, while his mother was from Oke-Ogun II, Kishi, and that he obtained his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the Ogbomoso axis. This, he said, gives him a deep understanding of the region.
Peller also pointed to his previous legislative experience, saying it would help him understand and represent the interests of the 13 local government areas that make up Oyo North. As a former member of the House of Representatives, Peller represented the Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency from 2019 to 2023. He declared his intention to contest the Oyo North senatorial seat under the APM in August 2026.
The endorsement by the Iba of Kishi comes as political activities intensify across Oyo North ahead of the 2027 elections. Peller and other APM candidates are already engaging party structures across the district.
