Housing Finance Bank has pledged UGX 80 million towards the eighth edition of the NSSF Kampala Hills Run. This event aims to raise funds for the renovation of public schools across Uganda. The bank's contribution is part of a larger partnership between NSSF and various corporate organizations to collect UGX 1.5 billion. The focus of the initiative is on enhancing school infrastructure, sanitation, and providing access to digital literacy opportunities for students.

The NSSF Kampala Hills Run was officially launched on November 2, 2026, at the NSSF Head Office in Kampala. The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 6, 2026, at Kololo Independence Grounds. Housing Finance Bank's Managing Director, Michael K. Mugabi, emphasized that the bank's sustainability approach aligns with NSSF's focus on education and job creation. He noted that investing in educational environments is crucial for the development of children and their future contributions to the economy.

According to Mugabi, education is a foundation for financial inclusion. He highlighted that the knowledge and skills children acquire in school shape their future opportunities and economic contributions. NSSF Managing Director, Patrick Ayota, mentioned that the run complements government efforts to improve education infrastructure. Ayota noted that despite government efforts, the need for improved infrastructure across the country remains substantial.

Ayota also emphasized that access to quality education is a key part of NSSF's sustainability agenda. This agenda integrates social and environmental needs into the Fund's business strategy. Previous editions of the Kampala Hills Run have supported renovations in 25 public primary schools, benefiting over 40,000 students daily. The interventions have reportedly led to a 12 percent increase in enrollment and a 10 percent reduction in dropout rates at beneficiary schools.

Housing Finance Bank joins other partners such as MTN, Aquafina, and Next Media in encouraging participation in this year's run. The goal is to support efforts to improve learning conditions for children across Uganda. The bank's contribution and involvement reflect its commitment to corporate social responsibility and community development.

The NSSF Kampala Hills Run has a history of supporting education initiatives. With the help of previous sponsors and participants, the event has made a significant impact on public schools. This year's event aims to continue this trend by focusing on the renovation of 10 public schools. The funds collected will be used to improve infrastructure, sanitation, and educational resources.

The eighth edition of the NSSF Kampala Hills Run promises to be a significant event in Uganda's education sector. With the support of Housing Finance Bank and other corporate partners, the event aims to make a tangible difference in the lives of students across the country. The run is set to take place on December 6, 2026, and interested individuals and organizations are encouraged to participate and contribute to the cause.
