Gumani Football Club (FC) has emerged victorious in this year's inter-community football gala, defeating Sakasaka FC 2-0 in the final. The tournament, organised by MTN Ghana, was part of the company's Savannah Fest activities. The match took place at the NOBISCO Park in Tamale and drew a large crowd. The winning team received a trophy and GH¢20,000 cash, with each player also receiving a medal.

The inter-community football gala brought together 16 teams from communities within Tamale, Sagnarigu and Tolon Assemblies. The competition commenced on September 18 and concluded on October 3. The event aimed to promote unity and engage communities in the northern part of Ghana through sports and social activities. MTN Ghana's initiative seeks to foster community interaction and celebrate football.

In addition to the final match, a third-place match was played between Sabonjida FC and Shishegu FC, with Sabonjida FC winning 1-0. The team received GH¢5,000 cash as its prize, and each player received a medal. Individual awards were also presented to outstanding players, including the Best Goalkeeper, Goal King and Best Player of the tournament.

Abdul Latif Wakil, Coach of Gumani FC, commended his team's performance, stating that they adhered to the game plan and worked hard to secure the victory. He appealed to MTN Ghana and other stakeholders to introduce football scouts at subsequent editions of the competition to identify talented players who could be developed and potentially promoted to national teams.

Mr Kwame Aseye, Retail Experience Manager, Northern Sector, MTN Ghana, expressed satisfaction with the organisation and outcome of the competition. He stated that the event had successfully brought communities together, creating an avenue for people to interact, have fun and celebrate football. He hopes that next year's competition will be bigger and provide even greater opportunities for communities to participate.

The finals attracted a large crowd, who cheered the two teams and created an exciting atmosphere as the communities came together to celebrate football and promote unity. The event demonstrated the power of sports to bring people together and promote social interaction.
