The Guinean government's Ministry of Urbanism, Housing, and Territorial Planning has presented two major urban renewal projects to the Prime Minister, Amadou Oury Bah. The projects, PHENIX Zéro Bidonville and 1,710 social housing units in Sonfonia, aim to improve living conditions and provide decent housing for citizens. The presentation was made by Secretary General Ahmed Sékou Keita, who led a delegation to the Prime Minister's office.
The PHENIX Zéro Bidonville project focuses on the Coronthie 1 and 2 areas, in collaboration with the National Urban Renewal Agency (ANRU). The project involves the renovation and reconstruction of the Coronthie 32 site. The second project, which will be implemented with the Guinean Housing Financing Agency (AGUIFIL), aims to provide 1,710 social housing units in Sonfonia. Both projects are part of the government's vision to transform Conakry into a modern city.
The projects are aligned with the president of the Republic, Mamadi Doumbouya's vision and the Simandou 2040 program. The government has already completed architectural studies for both projects, with the support of partners, including 54 RED. The studies have enabled the identification of key design features and implementation strategies.
According to Fayçal Santissi, an architect from 54 RED, the projects will contribute to improving living conditions, increasing access to decent housing, and supporting Conakry's urban transformation. The projects are expected to have a positive impact on the lives of citizens and help address the challenges of urbanization in Conakry.
During the presentation, the Prime Minister praised the efforts made so far and emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation process. He also stressed the importance of learning from past experiences and prioritizing concrete results. The government aims to deliver tangible benefits to citizens as soon as possible.
