On the same day, Guinean President confirmed that he had authorized Damaro Camara and former Prime Minister Kassory Fofana to leave Guinea for medical treatment. The President emphasized that this authorization does not undermine the court's decisions, which remain in effect. He stated that the principle of the rule of law remains intact.
The President explained that his decision was based solely on the health conditions of the two former officials. He mentioned that as a strong state is not without compassion, he could not turn a blind eye to their suffering. The President had been informed about their health conditions and decided to allow them to receive medical treatment.
The President clarified that his decision does not constitute a pardon, amnesty, or arrangement. Rather, it is an act of humanity, taken in consideration of their health conditions. He emphasized that the court's decisions remain unchanged and that no one is above the law, regardless of their position.
