As Guinea approaches its 2 October independence anniversary, the Bloc Libéral party is emphasizing the need for the country to prioritize the rule of law, justice, and truth. At a press conference held on 30 September 2026, party president Oumar Sanoh called on authorities to shed light on several sensitive cases, including disappearances, the discovery of unidentified bodies in Allassoyah, the Dar-es-Salam tragedy, and the N’Zérékoré stadium disaster in 2024.
Oumar Sanoh stressed that independence is not just about political sovereignty but also about having solid institutions, an independent judiciary, and effective protection of citizens. He emphasized that the rule of law requires an independent and accessible justice system, protected from political, economic, and social pressures. Sanoh also highlighted the need for public officials to be held accountable for their actions, just like ordinary citizens.
The Bloc Libéral party is pushing for consolidation of peace in the country, which Sanoh said should not be synonymous with forgetfulness or impunity but rather with justice, truth, and dialogue. He argued that independence is not just about state sovereignty but also about citizens' freedom, security, dignity, justice, and institutional solidity. Sanoh called for a lucid examination of Guinea's history, without vengeance or political instrumentalization.
The party is particularly concerned about the discovery of six unidentified bodies in Sabakhouré, in the Allassoyah sub-prefecture of Forécariah, on 24 August. Sanoh requested that investigations be conducted with diligence, independence, impartiality, and transparency to identify the victims and determine the circumstances of their deaths. He emphasized that the nation has a right to know the identity of the victims, the causes of their death, and those responsible.
The Bloc Libéral party also recalled the Dar-es-Salam tragedy, where the collapse of a landfill killed 35 people and injured several others. Sanoh called for concrete measures to be taken in waste management, disaster prevention, alert, and rescue. He urged authorities to draw lessons from this tragedy and strengthen prevention and rescue mechanisms.
Another case raised by the party is the N’Zérékoré stadium disaster on 1 December 2024, which resulted in several dozen deaths during a football match. Sanoh requested that investigations be completed, conclusions be made public, and justice and reparations be provided to victims and their families. He emphasized that families are waiting for the truth about the circumstances of this tragedy and those responsible.

Sanoh insisted that the party will continue to push for truth, justice, and accountability, emphasizing that these are essential for the country's progress and stability.
