The Guinean police have arrested nine individuals, including one woman, suspected of involvement in multiple armed attacks in the Siguiri prefecture and neighboring areas. The arrests were made on October 1, 2026, and the suspects were presented to the press by Colonel Ibrahima Baby Traoré, the central commissioner of Siguiri. The arrests were a collaborative effort between various security units, including the regional judicial police and the BAC 21.

According to the police, the suspects are linked to several attacks that occurred in August and September. On August 18, Yaya Traoré was a victim of an attack in which a machine used for gold exploitation was stolen. Eight days later, Mamadou Magassouba's home in the Victoria neighborhood was attacked, and assailants made off with 180 million Guinean francs, a motorcycle, and several phones.

The attacks continued in late August and September. On August 29, a money transfer kiosk in Boukaria, in the Kintinian prefecture, was targeted, and its owner, Mamadou Oury Diallo, was injured in the hand. However, one of the attackers reportedly fell at the scene, and no money or goods were stolen. On September 4, two motorcycles and two phones were stolen from a home in Kéda, in the Niagassola sub-prefecture.

Further attacks occurred on September 10, when a gold sales office in the Kokron sector of Siguiri was targeted. The police have been working to identify and apprehend those responsible for these crimes. Multiple security units were mobilized to investigate the attacks, including the regional judicial police, the central commissariat of Siguiri, and the BAC 21.

The police investigations led to the identification, location, and arrest of the nine suspects. They have been charged and referred to the prosecutor's office at the Siguiri Court of First Instance. The police operation has brought relief to the victims, who have welcomed the efforts of the defense and security forces in combating armed attacks and securing the population.

The Siguiri Central Police Commissariat has called on citizens to strengthen their collaboration with security services and report any suspicious behavior or movement that could help prevent new attacks. The authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and assist in maintaining security in the region.

The arrest of the nine suspects marks a significant breakthrough in the fight against armed attacks in the Siguiri region. The case will now proceed to the judicial authorities to determine the individual responsibilities of those involved. The police have assured the public that they will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the security and safety of the population.
