Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Ltd, a leading financial institution, has donated medical equipment to the Paediatric Oncology Unit of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge-Accra. The donation, made on September 11, 2026, aims to support the Unit in strengthening its capacity to provide quality and timely care to paediatric oncology patients. The equipment includes recliner chairs, chemotherapy spill kits, gloves, infusion pumps, and syringe pumps.
The donation is part of GTBank Ghana's commitment to supporting improved healthcare delivery and better outcomes for children undergoing cancer treatment. According to Agnes Owusu-Afram, Divisional Head of Corporate Communication and Experience at GTBank Ghana, the Bank recognizes the critical role healthcare institutions play in improving the quality of life of children and their families battling cancer. The donation is expected to create a more conducive environment for healthcare professionals and the children and families they serve.
The Head of the Paediatric Oncology Unit, Dr. Nihad Salifu, expressed appreciation to GTBank Ghana for the donation, noting that the equipment would provide valuable support to the Unit and ultimately benefit the children receiving care. This is not the first time GTBank has donated to the Unit; they have been a dedicated provider of medical equipment and logistics since the Unit's establishment.
Dr. Charlyne Kilba, Head of the Department of Child Health and Paediatric Intensivist, also underscored the importance of the donation. She noted that the equipment would fill a significant gap and enhance the Unit's ability to provide quality care to patients. The recliner chairs, for instance, will ensure that children are relaxed and comfortable during chemotherapy sessions.
The donation includes four recliner chairs for outpatient chemotherapy, ten chemotherapy spill kits, five extended-cuff nitrile gloves, four Benefusion UVP infusion pumps, two syringe pumps, and twenty Central Line compound and normal kits. These equipment are expected to support the dedicated medical team in delivering better care to children battling cancer.
