The Bayelsa State Police Command recently received a significant welfare boost from the Dougha Tamarkuro Humanitarian Initiatives. On Monday, the organization supported 50 serving police officers and 20 children of fallen officers at the Police Officers' Mess in Yenagoa. This initiative was part of the DTHI National Police Welfare and Resilience Programme, aimed at promoting the psychological well-being and resilience of police personnel.
The programme, tagged "The Police Are Our Friends," focused on addressing the mental health needs of police officers and providing educational support to children who lost their parents in active service. The 50 police beneficiaries, representing various ranks, participated in a mental health and resilience workshop and received welfare food support. In addition to supporting serving police officers, the organization also provided educational assistance to 20 children of deceased police officers through its Fallen Heroes Education Support Scheme.
