The Green Village, located in the Morne region of Mauritius, is shifting its focus towards conscious music and family-friendly events. Under the direction of Agathe Desvaux de Marigny, the venue is moving away from its previous format and embracing a more intimate and nature-connected atmosphere. This change in direction is aimed at providing a space for people to reconnect with themselves and nature.
The first event in this new series is a performance by Sam Gareth on October 10. He will be sharing the stage with Arian Mortazavi Sarrafan, Brain Love, and Natty Gong. Tickets for the event are available at Otayo and Ticketbox. According to Agathe Desvaux de Marigny, the Green Village is being equipped with a dome for sound and light projections, a small stage, and a yoga studio to accommodate the new focus on conscious music and wellness.
The Green Village has also introduced a range of new features, including a garden with vegetables, chickens, a cow, a donkey, and a dromedary. These additions are not only a personal pleasure for Agathe Desvaux de Marigny but also make the venue unique. The changes are inspired by similar festivals in Europe, which she wanted to bring to Mauritius.
Another significant event at the Green Village is the AWAKE Festival, scheduled to take place on October 31 and November 1. This festival is dedicated to the mind, body, and sound, with a focus on practices that promote reconnection to oneself and others. The event will feature a range of activities, including yoga, breathwork, sound healing, kirtan, martial arts, and poi.
The AWAKE Festival will also include a market with vendors offering products related to wellness and responsible consumption. The festival is family-friendly, with free admission for children under 12, and will be an alcohol-free event. A camping area will be available for attendees, and the festival aims to provide a platform for people to explore different approaches to body, breath, movement, and consciousness.
Agathe Desvaux de Marigny was inspired to make these changes after listening to conscious music during the COVID-19 pandemic. She realized the importance of creating a space that promotes wellness, self-connection, and community building. The Green Village's new direction is a reflection of this vision.
The previous event, Nou Lemorn, was more focused on local music and culture, but Agathe Desvaux de Marigny is unsure if it will continue. For now, she is concentrating on the AWAKE Festival and other events that align with the Green Village's new focus. The venue's transformation aims to provide a unique experience for attendees and promote a more conscious and connected community.
