Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has extended his congratulations to the newly elected executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council. The governor's congratulatory message was issued by his media aide, Mukhtar Gidado. The newly elected executives are led by Comrade Isah Garba Gadau of the Bauchi State Television Authority (BATV) as chairman.
The election, which took place on Saturday, saw the emergence of other executives, including Ishiyaka Isma’il Wunti of Globe FM, Bauchi, as secretary. Other elected members of the State Working Committee include Danjuma Sarki Sale of the Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC) as vice chairman; Aliyu Sambo of BATV as assistant secretary; Adama Ibrahim of the State Information Chapel as treasurer; Khalid Idris Doya of the Correspondents’ Chapel as financial secretary; and Ibrahim Abubakar of Radio Nigeria as auditor.
Governor Mohammed commended the NUJ Bauchi State Council for their maturity, peaceful disposition, and active participation in the electoral process. He noted that these qualities contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the election. The governor also praised the electoral committee for its diligence and commitment to ensuring an orderly exercise.
The governor described the election as an important demonstration of the NUJ's commitment to democratic principles, unity, professionalism, and the strengthening of journalism and media practice in the state. He assured the new NUJ leadership of the Bauchi State Government's continued support and respect for journalists and the media.
Governor Bala extended the hand of friendship, partnership, and fraternity of the state government to the new council. He expressed his administration's readiness to work with the NUJ leadership in advancing the interests of the media community and the overall development of Bauchi State.
The governor urged the newly elected executives to uphold the confidence reposed in them by NUJ members by promoting unity, professionalism, ethical journalism, and the welfare of journalists throughout their tenure. He also assured the new NUJ leadership of his administration's commitment to the welfare and professional development of journalists in the state.
Specifically, Governor Bala Mohammed pledged that the ongoing construction of a new and befitting NUJ Secretariat would be completed and delivered to the union before the end of his tenure. He expressed optimism for a stronger and mutually beneficial relationship between the Bauchi State Government and the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
