The Gombe State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami as the winner of the fresh primary elections conducted on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The election was held across 114 political wards in 11 local government areas of the state. Pantami emerged as the winner after polling a total of 2,054 votes. The primary election was ordered by the Federal High Court.
Three candidates contested in the primary election: Usman Aliyu Gary, Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki, and Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami. At the end of the collation of the election results, Hon Khamis Ahmed Mailantarki polled 389 votes, while Usman Aliyu Garry polled 112 votes. The Returning Officer, Hon Shekarau, declared Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami as the winner of the PDP governorship primary election in Gombe State.
Speaking before the results were announced, leader of the PDP in Gombe State and Senator representing Gombe North, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, emphasized the importance of unity among party members. He said that whoever wins the primary must carry everyone along, adding that there should be no losers. Dankwambo urged party members to rally around the winner and seek support from every member of the party to achieve victory in the general election.
Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo also stressed the need for party members to show solidarity with one another and with the party. He concluded that from that point forward, party members need to go back and start working immediately to win the election. Dankwambo noted that there are several other elections ahead for the party and its members must be ready to vote for the candidates.
