On October 1st, commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators in Gombe State received free fuel as part of a community support initiative by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Governorship candidate, Bala Bello Tinka. The free fuel was dispensed from 6 am to 6 pm across selected filling stations in the State capital. This gesture aimed to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal on the masses. Tinka stated that the offer would continue if he is elected Governor in 2027.
According to Tinka, commercial transport operators were the worst hit by the removal of fuel subsidy, and the intervention helped them celebrate the independence anniversary without worrying about fuel costs for a day. He made this statement during an interview with a local radio station in Gombe, which was monitored by a correspondent. Tinka's initiative targeted Okada riders and Keke Napep operators, providing them with free fuel on October 1st.
Bala Bello Tinka unveiled some of his key policy plans if elected Governor of Gombe State in 2027. One of his promises was to introduce free healthcare services for children under five years and elders above 70 years. He stated that no child should die because their parents cannot afford hospital bills, and no old person should be left to die miserably. This policy aims to provide essential healthcare services to vulnerable groups in the state.
Tinka also promised to procure fertiliser from local wholesalers in the State rather than directly from manufacturers. This change in procurement would allow the money to stay in Gombe, circulating among the people and boosting the local economy. The policy would empower local agro-dealers and create more jobs in the agricultural value chain. By supporting local businesses, Tinka aims to grow Gombe's economy.
The ADC candidate vowed to patronise indigenous contractors for Government projects, stating that only jobs requiring high technical expertise not available locally would be given to outsiders. He declared that Gombe has competent engineers, builders, and contractors who should be given priority. This approach would help local experts grow and develop their skills. Tinka's administration would focus on supporting local businesses and talent.
On the issue of lingering water scarcity in Gombe metropolis and other parts of the state, Tinka promised to tackle the problem from the root. His Government would commission a comprehensive study to identify the root cause of the perennial water shortage and bring it to a permanent end. Tinka assured the people that his administration would not opt for temporary fixes but rather a lasting solution to the water scarcity problem.
Bala Bello Tinka called on the people of Gombe State to support the ADC in the 2027 general elections, promising an all-inclusive Government that would prioritise the welfare of the common man. With his policy plans and palliative measures, Tinka aims to make a positive impact on the lives of Gombe State residents. His administration would focus on addressing the needs of the people and promoting economic growth.
