Givit Ghana, a non-profit organisation, has donated educational materials to students of Abeka 1 Basic School and Answarudeen Islamic Basic School in Accra. The donation, which included 1,400 exercise books, 210 teachers' notebooks, and stationery items, was part of the third edition of its Wear Smiles Project. The initiative aimed to support underprivileged students as they returned to school for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The Givit Ghana team was received by the Assistant Headmistress, Madam Patience Twum, and teachers at Abeka 1 Basic School. At Answarudeen Islamic Basic School, the team was received by the Assistant Headmistress, Hajia Amina Abukbakar, and teachers. The teachers at both schools expressed appreciation for the donation, describing it as timely and essential for the students' educational needs.
The donated materials included 150 pens, over 200 pencils, 70 sharpeners, 30 rulers, and about 120 erasers. Additionally, sketch books and coloured pencils were also part of the donation. The materials were expected to ease some of the educational challenges faced by students and enable them to participate more effectively in teaching and learning.
Beyond the presentation of materials, the Givit Ghana team interacted with students to encourage them to take their education seriously. The students were reminded that education could open doors to opportunities and contribute to building a better future. The team also encouraged students to extend support and show care to their classmates, friends, and others in need.
