Lawyers representing Harold Duodu Norman, the husband of Ghanaian fashion model and actress Nana Akua Addo, have issued a statement denying allegations of assault. The statement, dated October 6, 2026, was released in response to videos and pictures circulating online showing Nana Akua Addo with visible injuries. The images had been accompanied by captions suggesting that the injuries were caused by an alleged assault by Norman.

The lawyers, from FBA Law Consult, described the circulation of the material as an attempt to influence public opinion and garner sympathy for Nana Akua Addo. They noted that the circumstances surrounding the matter are currently the subject of criminal investigations by the Ghana Police Service's Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU). An ongoing civil case, identified as Rosemond Akua Adobea vrs Harold Duodu Norman, Suit No. DM/0607/2026, is also underway.

According to the lawyers, Norman's account of the relationship differs significantly from the narrative being circulated online. They alleged that in 2021, Norman returned from an event to find his estranged wife accusing him of infidelity. In a fit of rage, Nana Akua Addo allegedly attempted to stab Norman with a knife. This was reportedly the third occasion on which Nana Akua Addo had allegedly stabbed Norman during their marriage.

The lawyers claimed that there had been other incidents involving the alleged destruction of household items and injuries to members of the household when Nana Akua Addo became angry. Some of these alleged incidents were reportedly reported by Norman to the police at Nmai Dzorn, Spintex, and East Legon, among other locations. However, Norman subsequently withdrew the criminal complaints following pleas from Nana Akua Addo's friends and family.

The lawyers alleged that Norman made the withdrawals partly to protect Nana Akua Addo's public image as a celebrity and for the sake of the couple's children. They suggested that Nana Akua Addo had fabricated the recent incident, in which she injured herself, to garner public sympathy and escape a criminal probe. The statement comes amid widespread circulation of videos and photographs showing Nana Akua Addo with visible injuries, including a swollen lip and a cut beneath her eye.

The online circulation of the images and videos had sparked widespread concern and outrage, with many Ghanaians expressing support for Nana Akua Addo. However, the lawyers' statement has added a new dimension to the controversy, suggesting that the situation is more complex than initially thought. The Ghana Police Service's DOVVSU is expected to continue its investigations into the matter.

The case has raised questions about domestic violence and the challenges of investigating such cases, particularly when they involve high-profile individuals. The outcome of the investigations and the civil case are expected to shed more light on the situation.
