Ghana will mark World Tourism Day 2026 with a week-long celebration fused with the Eastern Expo in Koforidua, Eastern Region. The event, scheduled from 26th September to 3rd October 2026, will bring together stakeholders in Tourism, Culture, Creative Arts, and investment. This aims to promote sustainable development and unlock new opportunities within the sector. The celebration is themed “Unlocking Opportunities for Sustainable Trade, Tourism and Investment”.
The week-long programme will officially open on Monday, 28th September, 2026, with the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, expected to lead the official opening ceremony. The event will bring together key stakeholders and partners to highlight the importance of tourism as a driver of economic growth, job creation, enterprise development, and community participation.
Activities will commence on Saturday, 26th September, 2026, with a health walk to promote wellness and encourage public participation in the celebrations. On Sunday, 27th September, 2026, which is celebrated globally as World Tourism Day, a sensitization workshop will be held on the global theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism”. The workshop will bring together relevant stakeholders to discuss opportunities and challenges in the sector, while encouraging sustainable practices and investment in tourism-related enterprises.
Also on Sunday, 27th September, 2026, seminars will provide an avenue for participants to engage experts and industry players on issues relevant to tourism promotion, with emphasis on practical opportunities that can contribute to local economic development. These seminars are expected to foster meaningful discussions and collaborations.
As part of the Expo, exhibitors will showcase various tourism products and services, facilitating marketing and networking opportunities. The event aligns with the Black Star Experience and World Tourism Day, enhancing the Eastern Region’s profile as a key tourism and investment hub, while benefiting local businesses and communities.
