The Ghana-India Chamber of Commerce (GICC) has called on Ghanaian entrepreneurs to leverage its growing collaboration with Indian business organisations to expand their ventures and explore new markets. This was made during a two-day Ghana–India Business-to-Business (B2B) Meet in Accra, organised by the GICC in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO). The event aimed to create practical opportunities for Ghanaian businesses to connect with Indian companies and access new commercial prospects.
The B2B meet drew over 200 Ghanaian business leaders to engage with Indian delegates showcasing opportunities across various sectors, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, agribusiness, textiles, engineering, hardware, paper, and packaging. GICC President, Dr. Kwabena Ekremet, emphasized the importance of the Chamber's network in unlocking opportunities for Ghanaian businesses. He encouraged businesses to join the Chamber and actively use its network to access new markets.
FIEO Joint Director, Mr. Manish Sharma, assured Ghanaian businesses of India’s readiness to deepen cooperation. He highlighted the potential for collaboration between Ghanaian and Indian companies, particularly in areas such as agribusiness and pharmaceuticals. The event provided a platform for Ghanaian businesses to explore new trade opportunities and partnerships with Indian companies.
The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr. Surinder Bhagat, highlighted Ghana’s strategic location and the presence of the AfCFTA headquarters as key advantages. He urged both sides to seize opportunities for partnership, emphasizing the potential for growth and development through collaboration. The High Commission of India in Ghana supported the event, which marked a significant step in strengthening Ghana–India business ties.
Participants, including Mr. Emmanuel Ledi, an importer of building materials, and Ms. Agnes Aacht Hayfron-Benjamin, CEO of Kaliber Partners, welcomed the initiative. The event provided a valuable opportunity for networking and exploring new trade opportunities.
The GICC has faced challenges in fulfilling its objectives since its founding in 2013. However, organisers expressed hope that this maiden B2B engagement in recent years would mark the revival of the Chamber’s activities and strengthen trade links between Ghana and India. The event was seen as a vital step in promoting trade and investment between the two countries.
GICC Board Chairman, Mr. David Brian Obro, pledged that future engagements would be larger and more impactful.
