The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the opening of its recruitment portal for the 2026/2027 cycle. Applications are submitted exclusively through apply.mil.gh, and prospective applicants are required to purchase an E-Voucher for GH¢200 from designated Ghana Post offices nationwide. The portal opened on 4 September 2026, and applications will close on 23 September 2026.

The GAF recruits through several distinct streams, each with its own requirements. The two main routes for graduates and school leavers are the Regular Career Officer Course and the Regular Cadet course. The Regular Career Officer Course is for university graduates seeking commissioned officer status, while the Regular Cadet course is for applicants entering through the Military Academy with school-level qualifications.

To be eligible, applicants must satisfy a baseline set of criteria, including being a Ghanaian citizen by birth, of good character, and medically fit by GAF standards. They must also be able to pass the Pre-Joining Fitness Test and meet the height requirement: 1.68m for males and 1.60m for females. Academic requirements vary by stream, but for school-leaver entry, the minimum is six credits at WASSCE or SSSCE, including Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science.

The application process is entirely online, but it begins with a physical purchase of the E-Voucher. Applicants must then access the portal, enter their details, complete the form, and print the summary report. Shortlisted applicants will proceed through several stages, including a three-day Documentation and Body Selection Exercise, which will be held at designated centres in Kumasi and Accra.

The Documentation and Body Selection Exercise for the 2026/2027 cycle took place from 28 to 30 September 2026. Applicants who qualified for this stage received text messages with their assigned centres, reporting dates, and instructions. The GAF advised applicants to pay close attention to these messages and comply with all instructions.

The GAF has issued repeated warnings about fraudsters posing as military agents. The official application guide states that there are no authorised middlemen and the advertised vacancies are not for sale. Anyone claiming to have the power to facilitate recruitment for a fee should be reported through GAF’s official channels.

Key requirements for applicants include a minimum height of 1.68m for males and 1.60m for females, and academic qualifications that include six credits at WASSCE/SSSCE or six BECE passes. The E-Voucher costs GH¢200 and is purchased from designated Ghana Post offices.
