The ninth Mining Technology Exhibition is set to open in Geita, Tanzania, showcasing new machinery, vehicles, and technologies aimed at improving mining and transport operations. The event, running from September 23 to October 3, 2026, at the Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan Stadium in Bombambili Ward, Geita Municipality, will bring together players from the mining and technology sectors. Manufacturers and suppliers of machinery, vehicles, and mining equipment will participate in the exhibition.
One of the participating companies is GF Trucks & Equipment, which has brought a range of products and services for customers in the mining, transport, and business sectors. This year marks a significant milestone for the company as it celebrates 10 years of operating in Geita and serving customers across the Lake Zone. The company aims to use the exhibition to reach miners and other stakeholders while providing information about its products and services.
According to Smart Deus Rwehumbiza, a representative of GF Trucks & Equipment, modern equipment can significantly reduce the time required to complete mining activities. He cited the example of excavation, which can be completed in three days using an excavator, compared to two or three months manually. The company will also provide information on how customers can access equipment suited to their needs and make payments in Tanzanian shillings.
Miners and other participants will have the opportunity to view a range of products, receive advice on equipment suited to their operations, and learn about possible financing options through financial institutions working with the company. The exhibition will also feature various mining products and equipment, including rescue gear, with stakeholders highlighting the importance of modern technology in responding to emergencies at mining sites.
The exhibition is also creating opportunities for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, with some already preparing to benefit from increased business activity through food and other services. Geita women miners' chairperson Asia Masimba said they were looking forward to using the exhibition to learn about new technologies while sharing their knowledge of mining with visitors.
Miner Modest Masabire, from Mgusu and Nyarugusu, said the exhibition was giving miners an opportunity to access modern equipment and learn how to use it. He noted that the exhibition had already generated a lot of enthusiasm, with many companies supplying mining equipment already arrived. The exhibition will also provide training on how to use the equipment, often with different offers compared to visiting their offices.
The exhibition is expected to be a celebration for the people of Geita, with miners and other participants looking forward to learning about new technologies and sharing their knowledge of mining.
