The leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), Rigathi Gachagua, has concluded his engagements in Texas and is set to travel to Boston, Massachusetts, as his diaspora tour of the United States enters its final phase. Gachagua, accompanied by his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, wrapped up their Texas engagements on Wednesday. The couple is expected to continue meeting Kenyans living in the US during their stay in Boston from October 1 to October 9.

Gachagua has been in Dallas since September 25 as part of his approximately 50-day US tour, which combines diaspora engagements, political meetings, and discussions on investment and Kenya's economic prospects. During his Texas engagements, Gachagua met investors who expressed interest in investing in Kenya. The DCP stated that the investors highlighted the potential for increased investment and job creation in the country.

As Gachagua concluded the Texas leg, he and his wife took time for a horseback ride. The DCP shared images of the couple as they prepared to leave Texas for Boston. Gachagua also used the Texas leg to advance his economic and political message ahead of the 2027 General Election. He has said potential investors are being discouraged by corruption and opaque government processes.

Gachagua has also promised tax incentives for investors who create jobs if his political camp takes power in 2027. During a meeting with a Dallas Diaspora Caucus, Gachagua called for a bigger role for Kenyans abroad in the management of the country's affairs. He argued that their economic contribution gives them a stake in decisions made at home.

The DCP leader has continued discussions on the opposition's efforts to build a united political front ahead of the next election. His Dallas engagements were joined by several Kenyan politicians, including Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, and Embakasi Central MP Benjamin Gathiru Mejjadonk. Salasya said their discussions covered issues including jobs, healthcare, education, and economic growth.

The Texas visit was the latest stop in a tour that has taken Gachagua through several US states. He previously held engagements in Spokane, Washington, and Portland, Oregon, before moving to Kansas and then Dallas. The Boston leg is scheduled to be the final major stop on the published itinerary, with the tour expected to run until October 9.

The tour has provided Gachagua with an opportunity to build relationships with Kenyan communities abroad while popularising DCP and discussing his political agenda ahead of the 2027 elections. Gachagua's engagements in Boston will likely focus on similar themes, as he seeks to position Kenyans living abroad as important participants in Kenya's economic and political affairs.
