The Faculty of Agriculture at Kafr El Sheikh University recently organized a free advisory convoy titled "Climate Change and Fertilizer Needs for Winter Crops and Organic Fertilizers and Biofertilizers." The event was held at the Agricultural Association in the village of Masir, Kafr El Sheikh Governorate, as part of the "Decent Life" initiative. The convoy aimed to promote community service and support farmers by providing scientific guidance to improve agricultural production.
The convoy was held under the auspices of Dr. Yahya Zakaria Eid, President of Kafr El Sheikh University, Dr. Amany Shaker, Vice-President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Rashdi Shawki Al-Adawi, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. Dr. Al-Adawi emphasized that the convoy is part of a series of community and advisory activities aimed at enhancing communication with citizens and providing scientific and technical support to farmers.
The convoy's activities began with a welcome speech, followed by a discussion on the impact of climate change on winter crop productivity and ways to adapt to changing climate conditions. The importance of developing crop varieties that can withstand unfavorable environmental conditions was also highlighted. Dr. Adel Youssef Rajab, a professor of crops at the faculty, and Dr. Ibraheem Al-Dagui, head of the Crops Department, participated in the convoy.
The convoy also focused on the optimal use of fertilizers and the role of organic fertilizers and biofertilizers in supporting agricultural production and improving soil fertility. The discussions touched on the impact of climate change on microbial diversity in soil and on plant surfaces. The participants sought to find microbial strains that can withstand environmental stress factors and be used in agricultural applications.
The convoy included 19 farmers, who actively participated in discussions and raised questions about the challenges they face and ways to address them using modern scientific methods. The event concluded with recommendations and agricultural guidance related to dealing with climate change and winter crop needs.
The advisory convoy is part of Kafr El Sheikh University's efforts to enhance its community service role and support farmers. The event was supervised by Dr. Sayed Balal Abdel Moneim, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture for Community Service and Environmental Development.
