Kahina Sadki, 24, and her mother Aline Herbaut, 45, have made the bold decision to leave France and start anew in Algeria. The duo, who arrived in Alger in late July, aims to launch a high-end fashion brand that caters to the growing demand for modest clothing. Their project, dubbed 'Sadki,' seeks to provide stylish and innovative garments that adhere to Islamic law. With a strong background in marketing and luxury, Kahina is well-equipped to take on this venture.

Kahina's passion for fashion was ignited at a young age, and she pursued her interest by studying marketing and human resources. She further honed her skills at the Académie Luxe et Traditions, where she learned about luxury, fashion, and image consulting. Early in 2024, Kahina decided to embark on an entrepreneurial journey, creating her own fashion house with her mother's support. Aline, a former nursing assistant, brings her own set of skills to the table, having been married to an Algerian and having three children, including Kahina.

Before settling on Algeria, the duo conducted extensive research in the Gulf region, spending three months in Qatar, four in the UAE, and a fortnight in Oman. They presented their project to the committee of In5, the largest incubator in Dubai, and were selected as an innovative project in February 2026. Their materials have been tested and validated, and they plan to protect them with patents. This experience has prepared them well for their new venture in Algeria.

The decision to base their business in Algeria was not coincidental. Aline has strong ties to the country, having been married to an Algerian and having children who are connected to their Algerian heritage. Her youngest daughter, born from a second marriage, is currently enrolled in a public school in Alger, and Aline and Kahina are taking intensive Arabic courses to integrate into their new community. They plan to make Algeria their home and contribute to its economic growth.

The 'Sadki' brand aims to capitalize on the growing demand for modest fashion, with plans to launch a clothing line that caters to various tastes and preferences. The brand will offer bespoke services for weddings and private events, and they intend to open a local boutique where customers can purchase their creations. By 2027, they plan to have a fully functional workspace for their seamstresses and a retail space for clients.

Kahina and Aline's decision to leave France and start anew in Algeria reflects a growing trend of Franco-Algerians reconnecting with their roots. Their entrepreneurial spirit and innovative approach to fashion have the potential to make a significant impact on Algeria's economy and fashion industry. As they work towards launching their brand, they remain committed to their vision of providing stylish and modest clothing that resonates with their target audience.

The duo's project aligns with Algeria's development goals for 2030, and they hope to create jobs and promote Algerian culture in the Gulf region. With their unique blend of French and Algerian influences, Kahina and Aline are poised to make a lasting impression on the fashion world. Their story serves as an inspiration to others who may be considering a similar path, and their contributions to Algeria's economy and fashion industry are eagerly anticipated.
