France has confirmed its participation in upcoming talks between Russia and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, which are set to take place on November 10 and 11. The discussions, mediated by the United States, aim to address de-escalation and security guarantees. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated on RTL that Paris will be represented and will make its voice heard, emphasizing Europe's concerns.

The talks were announced by US envoy Steve Witkoff on Monday, and the Kremlin confirmed the meeting on Tuesday. This development comes after months of stalemate in discussions, with continued fighting resulting in significant casualties. An AFP report stated that a recent bombardment resulted in 26 deaths in a center. Moscow has been accused of undermining peace efforts.

Previous rounds of talks in Abu Dhabi, held in late January and early February, included Russia, Ukraine, and the United States, but excluded European representatives. However, Barrot noted that discussions have sometimes included Europeans and sometimes not. He emphasized that this time, European representatives will participate, following pressure from them to be included in any discussions about the continent's future.

The inclusion of European representatives in the talks comes after they expressed concerns to US mediators that any discussion on the continent's future should not ignore their requirements. Barrot stated that no agreement on European security architecture can be conceived or discussed without European involvement. This development indicates a significant shift in the negotiation dynamics.

The talks are expected to focus on de-escalation and security guarantees, with the aim of finding a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict. The participation of France and other European representatives is seen as a crucial step towards achieving a comprehensive and sustainable solution. The conflict has resulted in significant human suffering and economic losses.

US President Donald Trump has hinted at a potential "very big deal" between Russia and Ukraine that could involve the entire European continent. However, Barrot stated that he is not aware of the details of such a deal. He reiterated that any agreement affecting European security would require European participation and input.

The upcoming talks in Abu Dhabi represent a critical opportunity for Russia, Ukraine, and European representatives to engage in meaningful discussions aimed at resolving the conflict. The participation of France and other European countries is expected to bring a new level of engagement and commitment to finding a peaceful solution. The outcome of these talks remains uncertain, but their significance cannot be overstated.
