The Daily Times Nigeria @100 Centenary Celebration (DTN@100) has honoured four eminent Nigerians for their contributions to the nation. They are Dr Biodun Shobanjo, OON, advertising doyen and Chairman of Troyka Holdings; IGP Oatunji Rilwan Disu, Inspector-General of Police; Richard Mofe-Damijo, RMD, veteran Nollywood actor and former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State; and Captain Adebanke Olayiwola-Osilaja, US-based aviation expert.
IGP Disu has become one of the first recipients to be decorated ahead of the grand ceremony, receiving the DTN@100 Centenary Trailblazer Award at his office at Force Headquarters, Abuja. The award was presented by the Chairman of Folio Media Group and Publisher of the Daily Times, Mr Fidelis Anosike, in company with members of the Daily Times management team. The presentation was witnessed by senior police officers.
IGP Disu thanked the Board and Management of Daily Times and Folio Group for the recognition, describing it as a motivation for the Nigeria Police Force to continue to uphold professionalism, the rule of law and the protection of lives and property. He dedicated the award to officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, pledging to sustain ongoing reforms aimed at building a people-friendly, technology-driven and highly motivated police institution.
Richard Mofe-Damijo, RMD, has formally accepted the DTN@100 Changemaker Award and confirmed his attendance at the November 3 ceremony. In an acceptance letter, RMD said he was honoured to be recognised as part of the centenary celebration, noting that Daily Times has been woven into Nigeria’s history for a century. He commended the vision behind the Nigerian Grand Book, a 700-page centenary commemorative edition compiling the stories and contributions of Nigerians who have shaped the nation.
Advertising icon, Dr Biodun Shobanjo, OON, has also formally accepted his nomination as a recipient of the Daily Times Nigeria @100 Changemaker Award. Dr Shobanjo congratulated the Daily Times of Nigeria on its centenary anniversary, describing it as 100 years of impactful journalism and significant contributions to national development. He considers it a profound honour to be recognised alongside distinguished individuals and institutions shaping the nation’s progress.
In the diaspora category, United States-based aviation expert, Captain Adebanke Olayiwola-Osilaja, has been named among 100 distinguished Nigerians to receive the DTN@100 Diaspora Nigerian Award. The award was conveyed in a letter dated July 31, 2026. All recipients of the DTN@100 Times Heroes Awards will be featured among the most outstanding personalities and institutions in the 700-page Nigerian Grand Book.
The honourees will be formally decorated at the DTN@100 Times Heroes Awards Ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos. The ceremony is the climax of a year-long celebration marking 100 years of the Daily Times of Nigeria, Nigeria’s oldest surviving newspaper founded in 1926.
