The Goldcoast Developmental Foundation has recognized and rewarded outstanding students from the Faculty of Law at Niger Delta University (NDU) in Bayelsa State. The awards ceremony, held in partnership with Triax Solicitors, honored students who excelled in Commercial Law, Professional Ethics, and Alternative Dispute Resolution during the previous academic session. The event was attended by lecturers and members of the Law Students' Union Executive Council.
The Founder and President of the Goldcoast Developmental Foundation, Dr. Moses Oruaze Dickson, stated that the initiative aimed to encourage discipline, consistency, good character, and hard work among students, in addition to rewarding academic performance. Dickson, who taught the three modules, emphasized that the prizes demonstrated appreciation for students' efforts and sacrifices. He encouraged students who did not receive awards not to be discouraged, as the recognition was part of an ongoing effort to support students and promote academic excellence.
The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. G.G. Otuturu, commended the Foundation and Dr. Dickson for supporting the Faculty's efforts to encourage academic excellence. He noted that the initiative had created a culture of hard work and healthy competition among students and expressed hope that similar interventions would continue. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Otuturu, who recognized the importance of such initiatives in promoting academic excellence.
The Commercial Law award was a highlight of the ceremony, with two students, Agala Herbert Douglas and Edevbie Deborah Oghenetejiri, recording the same score as the best-performing students. Both students received laptops, and Dr. Dickson announced an additional cash prize of N20,000 each, along with commendation letters from his law firm, Triax Solicitors. Other award recipients included Dennis Digiton, Tarilate Ebiwalate Gwyneth, Bafaga Blessing Kareena, Jim Davison Perfect, and Dawari ThankGod Naranie.
The Foundation also presented consolation prizes to nine top-performing students in each of the three courses. The Vice-President of the Law Students' Union, Princess Etugbo, appreciated the Foundation and the Faculty management for the initiative, describing it as a significant encouragement to students. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Dr. Douye Fiderekumo, Mrs. Keriboyegha Stephen Appi, Dr. Oyinkare Esther Harrison, and Dr. Maxwell Obesi.
