The North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network has announced plans to hold a mega political rally in Lafia, Nasarawa state, on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The event aims to demonstrate the region's collective support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections. The rally will be hosted by the governor of Nasarawa state, Engineer Abdullahi Sule.

A statement by the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, confirmed the event. The announcement followed a high-level meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, October 9, 2026, with North Central APC stakeholders.

The meeting was attended by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, governors and deputy governors from the region, ministers, members of the National Assembly, and other political office holders. The APC National Chairman expressed condolences to the families of victims of recent tragedies, including the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Ondo State and a mining-related tragedy in Niger State.

The meeting unanimously agreed to fully mobilize political structures and supporters for the rally. The APC National Chairman described the planned gathering as the "mother of all rallies," aiming to demonstrate the region's collective commitment to the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in 2027.

According to the National Chairman, the meeting reflected a shared determination among participating stakeholders to coordinate their activities and strengthen grassroots engagement in support of the Tinubu/Shettima ticket. The meeting acknowledged Senator George Akume's leadership in bringing together political stakeholders from across the North Central region.

Stakeholders welcomed the participation of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as the headline guest. They reviewed arrangements for the participation of party leaders, women, youth groups, grassroots organisations, and supporters from across the six North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous reaffirmation of the participating stakeholders' commitment to the successful hosting of the Lafia rally and their support for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in the 2027 general elections.
