The fifth edition of the Egypt Mining Forum is set to commence on Monday, 28 September 2026, in New Capital, under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Organized by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the two-day event, themed "Unlocking Egypt's Exploration Potential and the Nubian-Arabian Shield," brings together prominent figures in the mining industry.

The forum's opening session will feature a keynote address by Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, alongside other high-profile speakers from leading international mining companies and organizations. A substantial turnout of investors and mining companies from Egypt, the Arab world, and globally is expected. Ministers and officials from several Arab and African countries will also participate.

According to Minister Badawi, the forum serves as an international platform to showcase promising investment opportunities in Egypt's mining sector and promote the country's mineral wealth. He highlighted recent reforms and measures initiated by President El-Sisi to create a more attractive investment climate for mineral exploration and exploitation. These efforts aim to encourage the establishment of value-added industries, boost employment, and increase exports.

The second day of the forum will feature a roundtable discussion chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly with prominent investors and mining companies. The focus will be on exploring available investment opportunities, fostering partnerships, and enhancing coordination among relevant authorities to attract necessary investments and maximize the utilization of Egypt's mineral resources.

During the forum, the results of the first bidding round for investment opportunities in gold, phosphate, talc, and kaolin exploration will be announced. This bidding round was launched by the Egyptian Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority in June 2026. The aim is to develop mechanisms for allocating mining areas and streamline procedures for assigning them to investors, facilitating the start of exploration work and improving the efficiency of mineral resource exploitation.

Prior to the forum's opening, Minister Badawi will chair a high-level roundtable discussion of the African Mineral Strategy Group (AMSG). The meeting, attended by African mining ministers, leaders, and officials, as well as company representatives and investors, will focus on enhancing cooperation and partnerships between governments and investors. The goal is to optimize the use of mineral resources, accelerate growth in the mining sector, and create an attractive investment climate.

The discussions will cover the development of mining activities, from studies and exploration to production and processing, and the establishment of industries that maximize value-added benefits. The mining sector's growing importance in African economies and its role in supporting development, attracting investments, and strengthening value chains related to mineral resources will also be addressed.
