The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced the disbursement of N50,000 cash relief to vulnerable Nigerians. This initiative is part of the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention, a presidential program aimed at providing immediate financial relief to those in need. The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro, announced the start of the program on October 30.

The intervention is designed to cushion the effects of rising food prices and the high cost of essential goods on households. According to Dr. Doro, eligible beneficiaries will receive N50,000 monthly to help meet essential needs and ease the burden of living costs. The initiative will be reviewed regularly in response to changes in the cost of living, with beneficiaries to be notified before any adjustments.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction is working with licensed digital financial service providers to ensure the secure and transparent delivery of funds. Beneficiaries will receive an SMS from one of these providers asking for their consent. Once consent is given, payment is made directly to the beneficiary's account or mobile wallet. The approved providers and their USSD codes have been released.

The approved providers are ALAT by Wema (*945*23#), MoMo PSB (*671*0#), NairaGram (*726*00#), OPay (*955*20#), and Moniepoint (*557*327#). Beneficiaries are advised to be cautious and not share their personal identification numbers or Bank Verification Numbers with anyone. Dr. Doro warned Nigerians against fraudsters and urged them to call the official NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222 if they are unsure about any message.

The Youth Economic Intervention and De-radicalisation Programme (YEIDEP) confirmed that payments under NERSI are ongoing, with beneficiaries receiving notifications through their registered phone numbers. The program advised those who have not received text messages but whose eligibility status shows "NOT SELECTED" to remain patient and wait for the next batch.

Dr. Doro emphasized that beneficiaries were not required to apply, pay any fee, or register through an agent to receive the support. The ministry is working to ensure that the funds are delivered securely and transparently to eligible beneficiaries. The initiative aims to provide direct assistance to vulnerable Nigerians and help them meet their essential needs.
