The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has made an arrest in connection with the death of a man whose body was found dumped along the Kubwa Expressway. On Saturday, FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Sanusi, disclosed that a woman, Mrs Rukayat Muhammed, was taken into custody. According to Sanusi, Rukayat and the deceased had checked into the Good Samaritan Guest House on 2nd Avenue, Gwarimpa, to spend time together before the man died.
The incident occurred on August 26, 2026, when the deceased's lifeless body was discovered along the Kubwa Expressway by Katampe under the bridge. Initially, the incident was suspected to be a possible “one chance” case, while the deceased's family had earlier reported him missing. The police began working to establish whether the body could be connected to the earlier missing person report. Through investigation, they confirmed that the deceased was the same person whose disappearance had been reported by his family.
CP Sanusi said investigators discovered that the deceased's mobile phone was missing and began tracking the device. Although the phone had been switched off, investigators established the last person with whom the deceased had communicated, leading to the identification and arrest of Rukayat, a resident of Garki Area 2. The suspect allegedly failed to raise the alarm after discovering that the deceased was no longer breathing, but instead left the hotel with his mobile phone.
Further investigation revealed that Rukayat, a married woman, was allegedly in a romantic relationship with the deceased and had saved his contact on her phone as “Safiyat.” The investigation also established that Rukayat and the deceased had lodged at the Good Samaritan Guest House, where they spent some time together. The suspect informed the police that she discovered the deceased was no longer breathing and had died.
Instead of reporting the incident to the police, two members of the hotel management, identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, allegedly removed the body from the room and transported it to the Kubwa Expressway by Katampe under the bridge, where they dumped it by the roadside. The police boss said the action was apparently aimed at distancing the hotel and its management from the incident.
Sanusi stressed that an investigation into the case is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the man's death. The police are working to determine the cause of death and the roles played by all individuals involved. Anyone found to have played a role in the death or subsequent concealment and abandonment of the body will be made to face the law.
The FCT Police Command is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation. The case has raised concerns about the safety and security of hotel guests and the need for hotel management to report suspicious incidents to the authorities promptly.
