The FCT Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the disposal of a man's body found beneath Katampe Bridge in Abuja. According to Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, the police have established a link between a woman and two workers at a guest house in Gwarimpa, Abuja, and the disposal of the body. The deceased was found along the Kubwa Expressway, near Katampe, on August 26, days after his family had reported him missing.
The discovery of the body had generated speculation that the man may have been a victim of kidnapping or “one-chance” robbery. However, detectives began tracing the circumstances surrounding the man's disappearance after confirming that the body belonged to the person reported missing by his family. The investigation was aided by the deceased's mobile phone, which was not found with the body. Further investigation revealed that Muhammed was allegedly in a romantic relationship with the deceased and had saved his contact under the name “Safiyat.” The two had stayed at Good Samaritan Guest House on Second Avenue, Gwarimpa, where Muhammed allegedly found the man unresponsive. Rather than alerting the police, Muhammed allegedly took the deceased's phone and left the guest house. This sequence of events raised suspicions and led the police to probe further.
The situation reportedly came to light after the guest house management made unsuccessful attempts to reach the occupants of the room. The room was subsequently opened, leading to the discovery of the man's body. The police alleged that two members of the guest house management, Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, later moved the body from the room and transported it to the Katampe area of the Kubwa Expressway, where they abandoned it beneath the bridge.
Commissioner Sanusi disclosed that the police had yet to establish how the man died, stressing that investigations were still ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
