A recent meeting in Casablanca, organized by PwC Morocco and Alteryx, brought together experts to discuss the challenges of deploying artificial intelligence (AI) on a large scale in enterprises. The event, titled "Réussir vos projets IA : passer du pilote au déploiement à grande échelle," focused on the difficulties of transforming AI initiatives into operational results. According to Hind Barakat, a partner at PwC Morocco, many companies struggle to realize the benefits of AI despite significant investments.
Barakat cited the 29th edition of the Global CEO Survey by PwC, which found that 56% of respondents had not yet seen any value creation from AI in their operations, while only 12% reported perceiving benefits. She emphasized that the challenge lies not in demonstrating AI's technological capabilities but in integrating it sustainably into work processes. Barakat stressed that value is created when AI technology is made available to employees, enabling them to work more efficiently.
Raphaël Savy, Vice-President for Southern Europe and North Africa at Alteryx, also highlighted the difficulties companies face in scaling up AI projects beyond the pilot stage. According to data presented by Savy, only 5% of AI projects achieve successful large-scale deployment. He identified several obstacles, including data quality, governance, and user adoption. Savy emphasized that companies often invest in data platforms and technological infrastructures without adapting their internal processes.
Alteryx presented its Alteryx One platform, which combines data preparation, automated analytics, and agent-based artificial intelligence. The goal is to enable business teams to develop automated processes while maintaining traceability and control mechanisms. Savy explained that adding AI tools is not enough to transform operations if management rules and control mechanisms are not clearly defined.
The meeting also featured a case study of a large Moroccan industrial enterprise that worked with PwC and Alteryx to identify recurring tasks that could be automated. The approach focused on users' operational needs rather than tool functionality. After a training phase, employees were able to develop automated processes, improving efficiency and productivity.
The experts emphasized the importance of addressing the challenges of AI deployment, including data governance, integration with business processes, and employee adoption. They stressed that companies must adapt their internal processes and rules to fully leverage AI technology. By doing so, businesses can unlock the potential of AI and achieve significant benefits.
The event provided a platform for Moroccan businesses to learn from international best practices and experiences in AI deployment. The collaboration between PwC and Alteryx aims to support companies in overcoming the challenges of large-scale AI adoption and realizing the benefits of this technology.
