The Baseball Federation of Kenya (BFK) is set to launch its inaugural National Rotational Series, featuring eight men's teams competing in a series of events across the country. The opening leg will take place this weekend at Nakeel Sports Ground in Rongai, Kajiado county. The teams have been divided into two pools, with Maasai Warriors, Kongoni, The Infernos, and Alice in Africa in Pool A, and JKUAT, Kibagare, All Sports Academy Africa, and Samurai in Pool B.
BFK president Titus Mutwiri confirmed that the women's competition is planned for a later date. The series will feature a rotational format, with different regions hosting each event. The second leg, the Western Series, will be held at Kongoni Baseball Grounds in Kakamega on October 17 and 18. This format is designed to give teams regular competition while taking national-level baseball to different regions.
The National Rotational Series will resume in 2027 with the North Rift Series at Elburgon on January 23 and 24. Meru University will host the second event on February 12 and 13, while Bomu Secondary School will stage the third leg on March 6 and 7. This series of events aims to strengthen regional baseball structures, increase competitive exposure for players, and improve technical standards.
BFK Leagues and Competitions Committee chairman Elphas Ong’ong’o emphasized that the rotational format will provide a consistent national competition pathway. He urged all BFK-affiliated teams to participate consistently throughout the series, saying it will give different regions opportunities to host competitive baseball and engage communities and stakeholders.
The penultimate event, the Nyanza Series, will be held on April 10 and 11 at a venue to be confirmed, before the season concludes with the Central Series at All Sports Academy in Thika on May 15 and 16. The series aims to support talent identification and provide a platform for teams to compete against each other in a regular and consistent manner.
The eight teams competing in the inaugural series are Maasai Warriors, Kongoni, The Infernos, Alice in Africa, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Kibagare, All Sports Academy Africa, and Samurai. The teams will battle for honors in the series, which promises to be an exciting and competitive event.
The Baseball Federation of Kenya's National Rotational Series is expected to promote baseball in the country, encouraging the establishment of clubs, academies, and youth programs. With the support of BFK and its affiliated teams, the series aims to take national-level baseball to different regions and provide a platform for players to showcase their skills.
