The Société Béninoise d’Énergie Électrique (SBEE) has announced that eight zones across several regions in Benin will experience power outages on September 22, 2026. The outages, scheduled from 10am to 3pm for most sites, are necessary for maintenance and project work on the electrical network. Residents in the affected areas are advised to take precautions during the outage period.
In the northern region, several localities will be affected by the power outages. In the Dassa sector, Glazoué Ville, Aklamkpa, Sowiandji, and surrounding areas will be without electricity from 10am to 3pm. Similarly, in Parakou, neighborhoods such as Banikanni, Titirou, Okedama, Siangourou, Madina, Kpébié, and surrounding areas will experience the same outage during the same time period.
The Natitingou sector will also be affected, with the city itself, Boukoumbé, and Kouarfa experiencing power outages from 10am to 3pm. In contrast, the Djougou sector will have a longer outage period, from 11am to 3pm, affecting Bassila, Pénessoulou, Alédjo, Manigri, Prêkêtê, Bougou, Bodi, Pélébina, Kodowari, Frignon, and surrounding areas.
The Grand-Nokoué region will also experience power outages. In the Lokossa sector, the outage will affect the Hôtel de Ville de Bopa, Kpindji, Houégbo, Agbodji, Médétogbo, and surrounding areas from 10am to 3pm. In Ouidah, Pahou, Houndjava, Ahozon, Adovié, and surrounding areas will be without electricity during the same time period.
Cotonou-Ouest is listed twice as an area that will experience power outages. The areas of Cadjehoun and Patte d’Oie will be affected from 10am to 3pm. Additionally, the sector that includes the Ministère du Cadre de Vie, the Cour Constitutionnelle, Ganhi, and surrounding areas will also experience an outage during the same time period.
The SBEE has apologized to affected subscribers and assured them that their teams are on standby to quickly restore service. The company emphasized that the outages are temporary and limited to the announced time periods. Residents in the listed areas are advised to consider all electrical installations to be live during the work period.

The company’s teams will work to complete the maintenance and project work as quickly as possible to minimize disruptions to the affected communities.
